REPORT ON ISSE SEMINAR 29TH JANUARY 2011

Indian Society of Structural Engineers ( ISSE) in association with The Institution of Engineers India (IEI) arranged one day seminar on “Pre-engineered Structures” On 29th Jan 2011 at the Auditorium of Institution of Engineers Maharashtra State Centre, Mahalaxmi, Mumbai.

Mr. S G Dharmadhikari, President ISSE welcomed all the delegates on behalf of ISSE and IEI.

Hemant Vadalkar, Co-ordinator of the seminar talked about the seminar theme. He emphasised the need for speedy constructions without compromising the quality and economy.

Dr. Ashok Ahuja from IIT Roorkee delivered the key note address on the subject and given the overview of the fast track constructions and challenges ahead.

Various professionals from design , construction and academic field shared their experience and knowledge through the technical sessions.

Mr. Kamal Hadkar from M/s Sterling Engineering Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd talked on pre-engineered building solutions.

Paper from P. S. Badrinarayan representing M/s Shirish Patel & Associates Consultants Pvt. Ltd., talked about “Design Guidelines for Pre-Engineered Steel Industrial Buildings”. This was presented made by Hemant Vadalkar on his behalf.

The topic “Post installed concrete anchors: State of the art” was discussed by Mr. Jacob Olsen expert in fastening technology from United States.

Senior consulting engineer A B Karnik presented his case studies on his marine projects titled “ Innovative solutions for Enabling structures” .

N.K. Bhattacharyya made a presentation on Tilt Up Structures.

S. Vaithyanathan from M/s JSW Severfield Structures deliberated on the subject “Problems faced in Pre-engineered Constructions”.

Product presentation was made by sponsors like M/s Powers Fasteners India Pvt. Ltd, M/s ISMT Limited, M/s Roofex and M/s JSW Severfield Structures Ltd.

With the support from Industry and participants ISSE could arranged a successful seminar promoting interaction between professionals, academics and construction industry. Seminar proceedings were distributed to all delegates.

The response for the workshop was overwhelming. It was attended by about 150 delegates.

At the end, Hemant Vadalkar proposed vote of thanks. The entire proceedings were conducted by Mrs. Kirty Vadalkar with brief comments to make it interesting.
